The Pen16 Collaborative Drawing Club is this Sunday. It will be marvelous night of drawing games and visual exploration. Maybe we should draw each others essences. 8-11pm there will be snacks Also: Garrett Davis's opening in the Gallery Under the Stairs
March 15: John Zimmerman, PhD presents Aspergillus nidulans
Professor Zimmerman will present on Aspergillus nidulans, a fungus he studied for his graduate work at Temple University. This is part of the Biological Studies Program. Starts at 2pm.

March 13: German Class
The Leibniz Zentrum for German Study is back! Join Professor Nathan Holt as well as other instructors (TBA) for a free lesson in German, the great language of poets and thinkers. It doesn' matter if you can chat up a storm, or have yet to learn a single word! German for Beginners: 7pm. German for Conversation: 8pm.

February 21: Audio-Visual Synthesizer Meeting

Thursday, February 21, at 8pm, the PIFAS Acoustic Research Department will be discussing methods of creating an open-source audio-visual synthesizer. This meeting will the audio section of the sampler/synthesizer, which is being designed with Pure Data, a dataflow language designed for interactive multimedia projects.

The Pen16 Drawing Club meets again Saturday, February 16th, to continue its mission of promoting the indelible line. Also, the Gallery Under the Stairs hosts its second opening of miniatures, featuring work by Erica Prince.

Thursday, February 14, at 8pm, the PIFAS Acoustic Research Department will be discussing methods of creating an open-source audio-visual synthesizer. This meeting will cover the progress which has already been made using ffmpeg, libvlc, wxPython, and pure data, with an eye toward the design of the interface, and the audio component, both of which are yet to be implemented.

February 09: BYOB! (Be Your Own Boss)
PIFAS is proud to introduce the first of many entrepreneurial seminars titled BYOB! (Be Your Own Boss). Slave laborers are encouraged to attend.

This short event will take place at 6pm on Saturday, February 9 in the cozy lobby of PIFAS.

Drinks will be provided.

February 05: Light Room Group

From 6:00 to 10:00PM, this Tuesday, at the Institute, the Light Room Group will meet up for a DIY photoshoot workshop, where participants may:

model for photographs
have photographs taken of yourself, for head-shots
have photographs taken of things you have made
generally play with hair, makeup or costumes
play with lights or share lights you've brought
watch, learn and play photoshoot.

Possible items to bring:

make up/face paint
costumes or interesting clothes
hair styling products
your projects to be modeled
light rigs or soft boxes
and, if nothing more, yourself.

Results will most likely appear in an online gallery.
