Pure Data seminar continues Thursday, September 27th at 8pm. This week we will discuss Chapter 5, Modulation, of Theory and Techniques of Electronic Music. Students are asked to complete a PD patch to review with the group.

September 2007 Artists-in-Residence Ursula Boeckler and Georg Graw present: Drive-In, an installation in the Institute parking facilities, and a screening of their latest works in the Institute’s theater. Sunday, September 23rd, at 8pm.


Also: Going away party for Ursula and Georg.
Bonus: Welcome-Back party for Constance.
Bring popcorn and/or cash for the concessions stand.
September 20: Pure Data Seminar

Thursday, September 20th at 8pm, Pure Data Seminar continues. This week: polyphony. Students are asked to read Chapter 4(Automation and voice management) in The Theory and Techniques of Electronic Music, and to bring a patch of their own device for subsequent discussion.

Note: Pure Data Seminar is moved to THURSDAY this week.
September 16: Pen16 Club

Sunday, September 16th – the Pen16 club continues under new management (Erica Prince). On the agenda: lightning round for warmup, the re-interpretation game, digging deep, collaborative drawing with off-dominant hands, internal collaboration (right/left hand simultaneous mirror image drawings). 8pm.

The theme - yes it is COLLABORATION.

Beginning with 2 principal topics:
1. Aging, Youth, and the Passage of Time
2. Götterdämmerung: The Show (and Performance, in general) as an overextended cultural form, and its alternatives, considered.

September 05: Pure Data Seminar

Pure Data Seminar continues Wednesday, September 5th, at 8pm; this week, we discuss Chapter 3, Audio and Control Computations, of Theory and Techniques of Electronic Music. Students are asked to complete a patch demonstrating sampling, or related to the week’s reading.

Bring your own machine if possible.

Come and enjoy an out-of-doors pique-nique, along with light musical fare by Jonny Corndawg, Charles Cohen and Brian Morsberger. Afterwards, at sundown, Shawn Kornhauser will be screening his new short, The Meeting as well a new Corndawg commercial, and Ted Passon will be showing his One Day in Paris.

This will also be another ripe occasion for Game Lab; to test new prototypes and hone older ones.
