Drive-In

September 23, 2007, Eric James Johnson Memorial Fellowship recipients Ursula Böckler and Georg Graw present: Drive-In.

Drive-In movie theaters combine the American love affair with popcorn-selling cinema with our obsession for auto-moting. Graw Böckler, in conjunction with the Philadelphia Institute for Advanced Study present a timely meditation on this phenomenon. A city with acres of empty, green lots, unused parking lots, and abandoned, to-be-demolished housing, Philadelphia does not boast a single Drive-In. Graw Böckler aims to change this in one night: utilizing the Institute's own parking lot, cluttered with cars, they present an open invitation to faculty and community members to "drive in" - in cars, on bikes, segways, and scooters - on motorcycles, mopeds, and mechanized chairs - for a night at the movies, under the stars.

Presentation including: Commercials for a Concept, Super 8 Jahre, How-To's, Loop Pool, Commercials Unauthorized, Buenos Aires.
