Audrey Culp
Since graduating from Bennington College, Audrey Culp has been fighting her battles against the 9-5, property values, sleep, and adulthood. When it was suggested that she stop painting animals in the spring of 2004, Ms. Culp began her investigation of the narrative capabilities of scientific abstractions and returned to her first love, the diorama.
She has been working with the visual languages associated with scientific diagrams, efficiency, and universalization as the tools to create abstract imagery with powerful narratives. A Philadelphia Native and champion of the miniature, Ms. Culp always finds her inspiration on the ground.
